Tips for Searching the Catalog

The catalog search bar defaults to a keyword search, which covers title, author, notes, and other parts of the book record. A keyword search often turns up fewer relevant books than a subject search.

Use advanced search to limit by author, title, or subject.

After finding a useful item read its description and check out its subjects. They can be inspiration for further searching.

Many books on a topic have similar call numbers. Once you have one useful book, make the trip to that shelf and browse for similar items.

Fiction books are located on the first floor. Non-Fiction books are located on the second and third floors.

What is a database anyway?
