General Library Policies

The Cox Library, located adjacent to the Schwartz Student Center in Wigglesworth Hall, is dedicated to studying and quiet collaboration. To maintain this environment, we ask all patrons to be responsible for both the energy and items they bring into the library.

Food

Drinks with lids are allowed. No food or candy is allowed in any part of the Cox Library unless part of a pre-authorized event.

Audio/Video

Use headphones or earbuds when listening to audio or video on any device.

Spaces

  • Upper Level: The Upper Level is designated for individual work or small group collaboration. These are conversations that can be heard only by the people sitting right near you. Large study groups or loud conversations will be asked to continue their work next door in the Student Center or in the Library Classroom if available.
  • Lower level: With individual study carrels and seating, the Lower Level is designated for individual work. Conversations on this level should be limited to someone sitting right next to you.
    • Quiet Room: The Quiet Room is dedicated to silent study. No group work is allowed
    • Cafferty Room: The Cafferty Room can be reserved for 1-3 people. To ensure equitable access, you may reserve the Cafferty room for no more than one hour per day. Priority for Cafferty Room use may be given to College Counseling or other Academy departments.
