A collection of personal accounts of American war veterans. The site has personal narratives (audio and video-taped interviews and written memoirs), correspondence (letters, postcards, v-mail, and personal diaries), and visual materials (photographs, drawings, and scrapbooks). Search by conflict (World Wars I and II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, and the wars in the Iraq Gulf, Afghanistan, and Iraq. A project of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

Includes four sets of papers and letters from women who lived during the Civil War, including a Confederate spy, an intelligence worker for the Union Army, an enslaved African American woman and a young 16 year old southern girl. Also includes links to other relevant sources.
