DIY How To

Search for a magazine or journal article

How to search

Search for an article from the Discovery Search box which retrieves articles from all databases except newspapers.

Type in the title of the article and search, as shown in this image. To make this a more accurate search, put the title in quotes.

Find Peer-reviewed Articles in databases

1. After your keyword search, filter your results using the options under Refine Results (in the left column). Check the box next to Peer Reviewed

If the article you find, either online or through our databases, asks you to pay for it, remember that Cox Library provides articles to you free of charge. We will help you find an article in print, or full text online access, or request the article from another library through Interlibrary Loan & Article Delivery, which usually takes 2-3 business days.

Here are several search strategies for finding articles:

  • Using the Cox Library Digital Portal, search for articles, and sign in to view articles online;
  • Search databases by subject

  • If you are searching for a specific journal, use the journal search link here;

  • If you find an article referenced, and you cannot find it in one of our databases, fill out the [interlibrary loan] form.

When your article is available, you will receive an email in your milton.edu account.
