The abstract should be a single paragraph that serves as a synopsis of your entire experiment. This paragraph should “stand alone” – it should provide the reader with enough information that they know whether or not your work is (i) of interest to them; or (ii) applicable for their own research as background information.
This paragraph should contain:
The goal of your study
A brief and general synopsis of what you did and how you did it (basic procedure)
What did you find (what were the key results)
What is your interpretation of the data
This paragraph should be accurate, concise yet thorough, and clear
