The abstract should be a single paragraph that serves as a synopsis of your entire experiment.  This paragraph should “stand alone” – it should provide the reader with enough information that they know whether or not your work is (i) of interest to them; or (ii) applicable for their own research as background information.

  • This paragraph should contain:

    • The goal of your study

    • A brief and general synopsis of what you did and how you did it (basic procedure)

    • What did you find (what were the key results)

    • What is your interpretation of the data

  • This paragraph should be accurate, concise yet thorough, and clear
