How to Complete Station 2

Welcome to Station 2! At this station, you will learn about finding books in the library's catalog. On this page, you will find:

  • A walkthrough of how to search the catalog and read a book's catalog entry
  • Two activities to practice using the catalog and call numbers

Please review all the information on this page and complete the guided activity.

When you are finished, fill out the Google Form for Station 2 to let your teacher know you completed the module. You'll need your computer to complete the form.

Find a nonfiction book in the catalog
  1. Search under "Print Books" on the US Portal, for a nonfiction book by one of the following Milton alumni:
    • Patrick Radden Keefe
    • Rob Sheffield
    • Heather McGhee
  2. Find the book's call number
  3. Find a fiction book on the shelves

**Enter in the Book Title and Call No.

  1. Search for a novel by one of the following Milton alumni:
    • Claire Messud
    • Emily Franklin
    • Joe Hill
  2. Find the book's call number.
  3. Using the call number, go find the book on the library shelves (remember that the fiction books are upstairs and nonfiction is downstairs)

**Take a selfie with your book, then replace the book in the spot where you found it!
